About Stuart McKnight

I spent the first half of my life in Glasgow, Scotland – where I did ok in school, and played loads of rugby. Politics, church, business and travel were often the conversations around the dinner table. After a few years of working in the family engineering business, I traveled to Australia to attend Capernwray Bible School where I met Teresa. Met in Oz, engaged in Scotland, married in Alberta, Canada (January…-25C !). After a few more years in Glasgow I graduated from GBC with a degree in Theology – majoring in Doctrine. We then returned to Capernwray, Australia where I was Dean of Students and Lecturer, and Teresa led the choir along with a host of other things. After two years we moved on to Alberta, Canada where we sensed God opening a door. The door was to Linden Alliance Church where I was Lead Pastor for 4 years. From Linden we moved a few hours north to Sherwood Park Alliance Church where I was Teaching Pastor, and on the Lead Team. After just two years there we were invited to consider Vernon Alliance Church as a place to step into the role of Lead Pastor. I have had the privilege of teaching and leading at VAC for 15 years. I stepped out of that role in October 2019.

Our initial intention was to move back to Scotland in the summer of 2020, however, due to immigration complexities we are sticking around for a while. We are sensing God is maneuvering our lives in some interesting new ways. I am currently working on completing my Masters in Systematic and Historical Theology (St Andrews University & Acadia University). And I am also seeking to serve the church through teaching Theology Proper. Bringing a bit of the Academy into the local church, all in a pastoral, understandable and transformative way. I am accredited as an Official Worker of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada and an Associate with The Great Commission Foundation.
